Episode 6. Dr. Glen Ritchie- Academia, the Art of Storytelling, and Digging Graves
Dr. Glen Ritchie is an associate professor of crop physiology and chair of the Department of Plant and Soil Science at Texas Tech University. Dr. Ritchie took on the role of Department Chair in September of 2019 and has already made a big impact on the students, staff, and faculty in the department.
I got the chance to sit down and have a great conversation with Dr. Ritchie about everything from his thoughts about the directions in which academia should to his goals as a researcher and Chairperson. It's a funny conversation that stays lighthearted, even while tackling some of the ins and outs of a competitive and evolving academic world. Whether you're involved with academia and education or not, you'll love Dr. Ritchie's insightful and kind take on the way we should approach education and treat people.
You can find Dr. Ritchie on the Plant and Soil Science website below. You'll also be able to find him on Twitter if I can ever get him to tell me his Twitter handle. Enjoy the show and let me know what you think!
